Orientation Week (Copy)

Orientation Week 2021

Semester 1 Orientation Week 2021 (also known as ‘O-Week’) will run from 15 February (Monday) to 21 February (Sunday). The week-long orientation is designed to help you, as a new resident, settle comfortably into your new living and learning environment.

Where Dreams Take Flight

The theme for this year’s O-Week is “Where Dreams Take Flight”. Our College is an engaging and vibrant community for students looking to create the career of their dreams. We’re the next generation of curious creatives, entrepreneurs and bosses that spark conversation around the topics they’re passionate about.

Orientation Week or ‘O-Week’ as you’ll come to know it – is all about welcoming you! For our new residents, we organise orientation the week before your classes begin so you’ll be able to discover the College, experience College life and meet new friends.

O-Week is an important event to attend because it’s packed full of welcomes, information sessions, workshops, tours and fun activities designed to help you meet people and adjust to college life.

Don’t forget to wear your lanyard so we can know who you are!

Who can participate in O-Week?

The following residents are eligible to attend all O-Week activities and events:

  • all residents who are new to the College in a Single Room or Studio Room,

  • all former Taylors College students who have chosen to return to College this year, as well as,

  • those who did not have the Orientation Program Fee as part of their contracts but have explicitly indicated that they would like to participate in O-Week in their Optional Extras Form.

Some O-Week activities will be emailed to you and are open to everyone at St Catherine’s. Please refer to the O-Week timetable for more details.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have mandatory activities on at your university, they take precedence over College activities. There will be catch-up sessions on at College.

Sign-up for some O-Week activities is required and we cannot allow entry if you have not done so. Activity sign up is coming soon!

Online activities for new residents

COMPULSORY

There are three online activities that you must complete before arriving at St Catherine’s:

1. Read College Handbook: This reading will get you up to speed with the expectations of being a resident at St Catherine’s. We are home to over 400 students and whilst we are not sticklers for rules and regulations, we must all abide by a code of conduct to ensure that we live harmoniously!

If you’re having issues with these buttons, please email training@stcatherines.uwa.edu.au

The 2021 College Handbook will be available soon.

2. Complete the online Alcohol Educational Module: This is an interactive educational resource designed to educate students about responsible use of alcohol and minimise harm. This form is one of the compulsory modules for O-Week and must be completed. Don’t forget to put “ST CATS” before your name and send a copy of the certificate of completion so that we know you have completed this compulsory module.

Please note: if you are under 18 years old you must read this and complete this quiz and email your certificate using the button below.

If you’re having issues with these buttons, please email training@stcatherines.uwa.edu.au

3. Complete the online Consent Matters Module: This is an interactive online learning package designed to educate students about current issues on sexual violence in Australia. This form is one of the compulsory modules for O-Week and must be completed.
