College Facilities
Our commitment to excellence includes providing the very best facilities for living, studying and relaxing.
Award Winning Facilities
Our recent redevelopement was recognised for its superior standard in collegiate style accommodation, winning the coveted WA Master Builder-Bankwest Excellence in Construction Award for Best Multi-Unit Development in 2014.
Judges were impressed by the “light filled corridors set around tranquil courtyards connecting the seven buildings” and community facilities that allowed “an ideal blend between privacy and social connection”.
Withnell Dining Hall
delicious, all-you-can-eat meals, every day
Set meal times provide important opportunities for residents to come together as a community as well as to socialise and to eat.
You will be pleased to know that the chef and kitchen team will cater to every taste and dietary requirement – western, asian, vegetarian, gluten free and more!
The Big Red Slide
the only one on college row
Chosen by the residents and based on the slide in Google’s offices in Berlin, this feature of our College always elicits laughter and energy. When you need a bit of fun, the slide is the solution!
Common Rooms
social spaces to suit every occasion
Junior and Postgraduate Common Rooms, Lounges and larger event spaces all provide residents with spaces appropriate to their needs.
Breakout Areas
hang out together
In every Wing there is a casual breakout space designed to make socialising informal and convenient.
Indigenous Cultural Spaces
study and socialising made easy
St Catherine’s offers dedicated Indigenous spaces to unwind, catch-up on study, get tutoring and practice culture. The spaces are also the heart of our two-way learning program and offers all our residents the opportunity to learn more about the rich culture of Indigenous Australians.
Bloom – Innovation Hub
the future of innovation
Bloom is UWA’s student innovation hub. It is an exciting collaboration between St Catherine’s College, UWA and Bloom to provide a dedicated space for young, innovative West Australians to create, network and change the world.
Study and Tutorial Rooms
studying together is easy
Dedicated study areas include Tutorial Rooms on every floor and Group Study Rooms dotted about the College. You can also study in the Dining Hall between meals with access to coffee, tea and Milo making facilities.
Computer Lab
resources at your fingertips
PCs are linked to the UWA network and the Internet with printers, scanners and photocopiers.
Music Rooms
express your musical talent
When you want the opposite of quiet time, the College has four sound-proof music rooms. Our music rooms are equipped with five pianos, including a Bösendorfer and a Blüthner Grand Piano, two full drum kits, music stands and adjustable music chairs.
Bridie’s
the ultimate games room
Darts, foosball, ping pong, snooker, Foxtel with a large screen TV and hi-bar tables all make Bridies a super cool relaxation space.
Courtyards
beautiful green spaces
St Catherine’s is designed around a series of interconnected courtyards each with its own theme. You will find spaces to sit and dream and places to kick a footy. Fountains splash in some courtyards; a BBQ sizzles in another.
Rooftop Gardens
the sky is the limit
The College is lucky enough to have not one but two rooftop gardens used throughout the year for small group gatherings and larger social events. The rooftop gardens are also edible gardens with residents able to access fresh herbs and vegetables all year round.
UWA Gym Access
staying fit has never been this easy
The modern UWA Recreation and Fitness Centre is fully-equipped with everything you need for a good workout, including more than 120 cardio and resistance weight machines. You also have access to more than 45 group fitness classes each week, as well as indoor and outdoor courts including squash, tennis, basketball, volleyball, badminton, netball and indoor soccer.
Micro-theatre
The most comfortable cinema experience
Residents can enjoy watching their favourite feature-length movies or hard-hitting documentaries in a specially designed intimate theatre with plush leather recliner seats and a full-sized projection screen.
Car Sharing
Just book it, pick-up and go!
You don’t need to have your own car as St Catherine’s residents have access to car share vehicles which are regularly cleaned, maintained and available anytime.
Catcycles
A First on College row
Residents have access to Catcycles, a free bicycle sharing service. By cycling, residents are not only supporting the environment but also get their exercise and arrive at their classes, alert and energised.
