Orientation Week 2017
Semester 1 Orientation Week 2017 (also known as ‘O-Week’) runs from Sunday, 19 February to Saturday, 25 February 2017. The week-long orientation is designed to help you as a new resident settle comfortably into your new living and learning environment.
The Sky’s The Limit
The theme for this year’s O-Week is “The Sky’s The Limit”. Our College is an engaging and vibrant community dedicated to the pursuit of excellence, and as you experience your first week of college life, we’ll show you how you can navigate and plan for excellence in everything you may choose to pursue.
O-Week is the beginning of your university and college experience. Getting fully involved from the beginning means you will immediately bond as a group and form part of the larger College community. Some of the friends you make in O-Week will remain your friends for the duration of your time at College. The program has been carefully crafted to ensure there is a balance between fun, information and skills to prepare you for uni. Make the most of it!
O-Week is jam packed, and we’ll make sure that settling into this new chapter of your life will be a wonderful experience and a solid foundation for life-long memories and success.
Who can participate in O-Week?
The following residents are eligible to attend all O-Week activities and events:

Guest keynote speaker
Clark Wight – “Who Will I Be?”: The Manhood and Womanhood Projects
In this “deep dive” into personal and social values, we will look at a four-year action research project undertaken by 16 – 22 year olds on values and how they can be influenced by societal expectations. Personal values were studied as part of a transition from a senior school environment to a university environment. The presentation is both a ‘call to action’ and a light-hearted look at what you may experience in the next few years at university. We will discuss personal and social values and use Brene Brown’s book, “Daring Greatly”, as a resource to discuss authenticity, vulnerability and courage. Clark’s seminars are known for their humour, sincerity, real-life solutions and tips, as well as, for the candour and perspective he brings around life, education and being wonderfully, authentically you.
New residents, parents and guests, please join us on Sunday, 19 February (move-in day) at 1.30 pm (right after the Welcome Lunch) for Clark’s keynote presentation.
